Who We Are
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC) is a statutory body whose mandate is derived from part III of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 2013 (Act 857).
Until the passage of this Act, the Council operated under NRCD 117 of 1972 and the LI 683.
The Council also has a mission to secure in the public interest the highest standard of training and practice of Nursing and Midwifery.
N&MC over the years has proved itself by stepping out efforts to build bilateral relations with our clientele to higher levels through dialogue and periodic visitation to its facilities nationwide.
N&MC closely ensures the availability of qualified nursing and midwifery professionals who would give competent, safe, prompt and efficient service for client delight.
Mandate
The name of the Council changed from Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana as provided for in the NRCD 117 of 1972 and LI 683 of 1971. during the year 2013 to Nursing and Midwifery Council following the enactment of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857).
Part Three of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857) mandates the council to secure in the public interest the highest standards of training and practice of Nursing and Midwifery. The LI 683 is also being reviewed.
