The Registrar of the Council, Mr. Felix Nyante yesterday took his first dose of the #Covid19vaccine.

The MCE of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Sandra Owusu- Ahenkorah who launched the #Vaccination campaign at the Council’s Head Office for the Ayawaso West Municipality also took her shot. This was followed by some #Nursing and #Midwifery leaders.

These included Ms. Hannah Acquah, Rector, Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM), Dr. Abigail Kyei, President GCNM, Prof. Lydia Aziato, Dean SoNM, University of Ghana Legon, Mrs. Eva Mensah, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Ghana Health Service.

The rest were Dr. Barnabas Yeboah, Head, Nursing and Midwifery, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Stella Antwi Bosiako, Chairperson, COHHETI Greater Accra Region, Mrs. Netta Ackon, President, Ghana Registered Midwives Association, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo, President, Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association and Mrs. Judith Asiamah, Director, Nursing and Midwifery Services, University of Ghana Medical Center.

Mr. Felix Nyante urged health personnel and the general public to dispel conspiracy theories casting doubts on the vaccination programme. He said “It is important we follow the President’s footsteps and set the example that the vaccine is safe”

As the world faces the challenge of tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, it is instrumental to ensure that the Janitorial Staff we work with gain the correct information about this illness; its risks, means of prevention, and also the myths surrounding it.

In view of this, a training programme was organized by the N&MC COVID-19 Team for the Janitorial Staff of the Council.

The participants who numbered about 20 were given practical training on the WHO COVID-19 protocols which included but not limited to handwashing techniques, sanitizer application, disposal of waste and new and effective ways of cleaning the premises to ensure safety of the entire Staff and themselves.

The training forms part of the entire training programme for Staff and other Stakeholders scheduled by the COVID-19 Technical Team of the Council So far, in addition to this training is the online training on COVID-19 protocol management at the workplace which was held for all Staff on February 1, 2021
